Methanex Egypt and the International Labour Organization (ILO) signed a two-year partnership agreement that will see the ILO’s flagship project ‘Decent Jobs for Egypt’s Young People’ (“DJEP”), funded by Canada, extended to Damietta, where the company operates its methanol production plant. Methanex Egypt will fund the project in Damietta through a $1,000,000 donation to the ILO. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, attended by H.E. Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr.
Methanex in Egypt and ECHEM organized a Process Safety Management (PSM) workshop titled “Enabling Egypt’s process safety journey.” Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the workshop was attended by ECHEM Chairman Mr. Saad Helal, and Methanex in Egypt CEO and Managing Director Mr. Mohamed Shindy along with over 200 leaders and executives of the petrochemicals and downstream oil & gas industry in Egypt.

(EMethanex), has been idled temporarily due to gas availability. Methanex has been advised by its gas supplier, which is a shareholder in EMethanex, that it will likely not be able to resume gas deliveries before the end of July 2014 due to the priority allocation of available natural gas to meet peak summer electricity demand.
