As a Responsible Care company, Methanex is committed to providing opportunities for the public to learn more about our operations. Methanex Medicine Hat invites the public to our plant site for Community Day on Thursday, June 14 between 11 AM and 6 PM. Sign up for a guided bus tour of our plant, watch a demonstration by our emergency-response team, and learn about our commitment to health, safety and the environment. Enjoy a BBQ between 11 AM and 2 PM, with all proceeds going to Praxis Society. This local non-profit will also be on site with fun science activities for children.
On April 28, we recognize World Day for Safety and Health at Work. At Methanex, our commitment to keeping our people safe and having safe operations is core to our Responsible Care® ethic. Part of what it means to live by that ethic is looking for opportunities to provide leadership in health and safety.
Methanex is proud to have several talented women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) positions working at our company and in January they shared their knowledge and experience with female students from the Medicine Hat area.
The opportunity was possible because of Operation Minerva, an initiative by Praxis SE Alberta Science Outreach Network, which pairs junior-high girls with female mentors in a range of STEM careers in the community.
On February 16, the 2016 Alberta Winter Games came to a close, marking the end to the highly anticipated multi-sporting event for youth. As the final medal ceremony concluded and the hundreds of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and spectators began heading home, Methanex Medicine was able to look back with pride at the role we played in “Greening the Games.”
Since our restart in 2011, Methanex has shipped nearly 26,000 railcars of methanol to our customers throughout Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. As a Responsible Care® company, Methanex is committed to ensuring that every railcar is delivered safely and securely to its destination.
