Senior Financial Analyst (Temporary)

Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager, Transfer Pricing and works closely with the Senior Financial and Tax Analysts, regional finance teams and other stakeholders to prepare and analyze information related to global projects. Key responsibilities include supporting the Manager, Transfer Pricing and Manager, Global Taxation in meeting annual compliance obligations at both the consolidated and country level and performing analyses to plan and implement global projects. The Senior Financial Analyst requires strong analytical and problem solving skills to understand and analyze complex arrangements and distill and streamline this information for presentation to senior leadership and committees to feed into major business decisions.

This is a Temporary FT position for the duration of 24-months, with the potential to extend to permanent FT at the end of the contract. The expected salary range is CAD $100,000 to $125,000 but may be reviewed for exceptionally qualified candidates.

Position Responsibilities

Analysis for compliance

  • Assist with annual transfer pricing compliance and maintenance of the Group’s intercompany agreements database.
  • Assist in preparing detailed quarterly analysis of tax and transfer pricing results for meetings and senior leadership.
  • Prepare annual US legal entity and consolidated financial statements.
  • Use analytical and research skills along with financial statement and disclosure expertise to prepare or track:
    • US earnings and profits (“E&P”).
    • US annual tax working papers to be provided to external service provider.
    • US tax estimate for extension payments.
  • Assist with the preparation of Canadian tax filings.

Analysis for planning / special projects

  • Assist in preparing audit defence material for tax and transfer pricing.
  • Provide support in researching, modelling and implementing tax planning strategies to respond to changes in law or changes in the business.
  • Assist in preparation of US and Canada taxable income forecasting.
  • Support global tax planning via modelling and analysis.
  • Assist in tax analysis, research and planning of implications of statutory changes.
  • Assist with financial analyses to support other finance or corporate initiatives as required.

Tax Provision

  • Prepare quarterly and annual US tax provision.
  • Quarterly assistance/review of US segmented income results.

Position Qualifications

Education and/or Professional Designation

  • University degree in Business and/or Finance (Commerce/Accounting)
  • Accounting designation

Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years of post-designation accounting and/or industry experience
  • Global reporting and accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge of tax and transfer pricing requirements
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Strong financial accounting knowledge
  • Exposure to public company disclosure and reporting (tax disclosures)
  • Experience with ERP/Integrated accounting systems (Oracle experience is an asset)
  • Advanced Excel skills
