Summer Intern – Data Analyst (Reformer Optimising)

Position Summary

Develop an AI model of the reformer using generated data to predict the best damper positions to operate the plant with as a function of rate and ambient conditions. Test the predictions on the plant with the operations team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Liase with operations to understand their methodology for trimming the reformer
  • Evaluate current and historic plant data provided to make a preliminary AI model
  • Test the preliminary model by making a selection of the most beneficial changes identified by the model on the reformer with the assistance of operations
  • Evaluate the results from these changes and revise the model as required
  • Deliver a tested and documented AI model for future use in reformer trimming
  • Train operations staff in the use of the Reformer Trimming model.

Position Qualifications

  • Completed 3rd or 4th year of Engineering degree (Chemical or Mechanical)
  • Decision Making
  • Strong software and coding skills
  • Analytical and research experience
  • Results driven, and goal orientated
  • Well organised
  • Communicates well within own group and other departments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to pick up and learn new programming languages
  • NZ Drivers Licence and access to a vehicle as there is no public transport available to work site
